1. Close all applications
2. Insert the Diva Starz(TM) CD-ROM into your drive.
3. If you have the Autorun feature enabled for your CD-ROM, the installation will start automatically and you can skip the following four steps:
Click Start and then Run from the Windows(R) 95 or 98 Taskbar
Click the Browse button and navigate to the Diva Starz(TM) CD-ROM
Double click on setup or setup.exe
Click the OK button
4. Click Next and follow the installation instructions.
5. Review the 'Read Me' file found in the Diva Starz(TM) folder for any important last minute information.

Logging in
The first time you play the Diva Starz(TM) CD-ROM, you'll be asked to enter your name. Just type your name and click "okay."
The next time you visit, choose your name from the list, and your game will begin. If you want to start a new game, click the "I'm new" button, enter your name, and click "Okay."
The Coffee Spot Main Chooser Screen
Once you've logged in, you'll be taken to the Coffee Spot, where the Diva Starz(TM) are relaxing and chatting. Click the Diva Starz(TM) friend you'd like to play with and watch for her to wave and say her name. Then choose a place you'd like to visit by clicking one of the three "Spot" icons at the top of the screen: the Music Spot, Fashion Spot or Style Spot. If you've been here before and have already earned game tokens, you can also access the fourth spot, the Arcade.
You will not be able to enter the Arcade Spot until you have won tokens by taking the Diva Challenge.
When you enter a Spot you'll be asked if you want to take the Diva Challenge. If you answer, "yes," you'll have the chance to win game tokens by responding correctly to your Diva Starz(TM) hints about her hair, clothes and music preferences. You can use your tokens to play games in the arcade.
Answer "no," and you can play freestyle, which means that you can play with all the great music, fashion and hair choices just for fun - but you won't win any tokens for the arcade. When you play freestyle, there are no wrongs or rights (and therefore no tokens), just lots of fun.
If you have been playing Freestyle and want to take the Diva Challenge instead, just open the StarPak(see below "Using your StarPak Tool) for full details), click the Challenge Results button, and answer 'yes' to take the Diva Challenge.
Game Objectives
The goal of the game is to win special gifts by finding out as much as you can about your new friends, the Diva Starz(TM). To do this, you'll join them as they do their favorite things in the mall: trying on cool clothes, experimenting with new hairstyles, mixing up musical masterpieces and by playing cool arcade games after you've won a challenge.
Playing Challenges
When you play in Diva Challenge mode, your Diva Starz(TM) friend will present you with challenges in each of the three game Spots. For example, one challenge may be to find the perfect hairstyle for an upcoming party. Your job will be to try out different styles until you find the perfect party 'do. If your Diva Starz(TM) friend is happy with her new hairstyle, you'll be awarded game tokens that you can use later in the arcade.
You will be asked if you want to take the Diva Challenge whenever you enter a Spot, change the Spot you are in, or when you open the StarPak after changing your Diva Starz(TM) friend. If you've chosen to take the Diva Challenge, you can use the Challenge Results Button on the StarPak to find out if you have answered her challenge correctly.
Winning Tokens
The more satisfied your Diva Starz(TM) friend is with the results of your challenge, the more tokens you will receive. So if your answer is totally perfect, you'll receive four tokens. If it's pretty amazing, you'll receive two tokens. If it's completely uncool, you won't receive any tokens, but you can always take another challenge and try again.
Playing for Diva Credits in the Arcade
Once you've won a few tokens, you can head to the arcade and play three totally fun games. Depending on how well you play, you'll win Diva Credits that you can use to buy great gifts for your Diva Starz(TM) friend. You can check the amount of Tokens or Credits you've earned by clicking the Tokens and Credits button on the StarPak.
Diva Starz(TM) Secrets and Surprises
Each Diva Starz(TM)friend has her own unique personality, so it's important to choose gifts that you think fit her tastes perfectly. This may be, for example, a crazy new dress to add to her wardrobe. The better you know your Diva Starz(TM) friend, the better you'll be at gift buying. When you know her well enough to give her gifts that she totally flips over, she may choose to reveal a Super Secret about herself.
Diva Starz(TM) Game Toolz
There are two basic tools that you'll need to use when playing Diva Starz(TM) CD-ROM: the Star Pak and the Diva2Diva Tool. The StarPak tool is located in the bottom left hand corner of your screen and the Diva2Diva Communicator is located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Using Your StarPak Tool
In order to play in Challenge Mode in any of the game Spots, you'll need to use the StarPak Tool. The StarPak Tool is your personal super-powered gadget that lets you begin and end challenges, see how many tokens and Diva Credits you've won, get game help, and even magically navigate to anywhere in the mall. The StarPak will open automatically when you enter a Spot.

ò Challenge Results
In the Diva Challenge mode, the "Challenge Results" button is used to end each challenge. To end a challenge, move the StarPak over your Diva Starz(TM) friend until she giggles and tells you that she 'has a secret'. Click on the Challenge Results button and your Diva Starz(TM) friend will tell you how you've done.
ò Tokens and Credits
When you hear the "ka-ching" sound you'll see how many tokens you've won in this challenge. Or you can click on the Tokens and Credits button at anytime to see how many game tokens you've earned for each Diva Starz(TM) friend.
Each token has a special Diva Starz(TM) symbol on it.
Challenge Results:
Use this button to end each challenge and find out how you did in each challenge. You'll see how many Tokens you've won and then be asked if you want to take another challenge.
Tokens and Diva Credits:
See how many Tokens and Diva Credits you've won for each Diva Starz(TM) friend and go directly to the Arcade.
Using the Diva2Diva Tool
Click on the Diva2Diva tool to see what the Diva Starz(TM) think about your outfit, hairstyle and music choices. You can also use this tool to select a different Diva Starz(TM) friend.
ò Star Communicator:
When you hear the phone ring and see the StarPak light up, your Diva Starz(TM) friends are calling to say you've found the perfect solution! During a challenge, click here to ask the other Diva Starz(TM) how well you're playing.
Switch Diva Characters:
See how the outfits and hairstyles you have chosen for one Diva Starz(TM) friend might look on the other Diva Starz(TM). If you like you can change to another character and then start a new challenge by clicking on the 'Challenge Results' button in the StarPak.
Navigating to Spots in the Diva Mall
There are two ways to jump to a new area of the game. First, you can select any of the game Spot icons from the Coffee Spot main chooser screen. This is the opening screen when you start the game. Second, you can access any area of the game by clicking on the star-shaped "Map/Chooser" button in the StarPak.
THE FASHION SPOT
With so many options, what's your Diva Starz(TM) friend to do? Luckily, your Diva Starz(TM) friend has you to help her find the perfect outfit!
When you enter the Fashion Spot, you'll see your Diva Starz(TM) friend standing next to racks of dresses, shirts (tanks/tees), vests, skirts and pants. Your job is to put together an amazing outfit that will match her mood.
ò Check out the Fashions
On the left and right sides of each wardrobe box, there are small arrows pointing left and right. Click on the arrows on each side of the fashions to see all the fashion-savvy options.
ò Dress Your Diva Starz(TM) Friend
When you find something you like, simply click on the piece of clothing, hold your mouse button down and drag it over to your Diva Starz(TM) friend. Release the mouse button when you've reached the part of her body that piece of clothing fits. If she is wearing something you don't like just drag the unwanted item off the Diva Starz(TM) body. You can keep trying new outfits until you get it perfect.
ò Start Over
To return all articles to the wardrobe and begin dressing your Diva Starz(TM) friend again, click the "Start Over" button.
ò Save
If you want to save an outfit for later, click the "Save" button. You'll be asked if you want to save this outfit or get a previous creation. Click "Save." Next, you'll be asked to name this outfit. Choose a name you're sure to remember! Once you've named your outfit, you can return to dressing your Diva Starz(TM) friend by clicking the "Okay" Button.
ò Getting Saved Outfits
To get a saved outfit, click the "Save" button. You'll be asked if you want to save this outfit or get a previous creation. Click "Get". Select the name of the outfit from the list and click on the "Show" button. To remove a saved outfit from the list, click on its name and then click "Delete." Deleting old saved outfits will make room for new outfits you want to save.
ò Special Gift Clothing
The light bulbs on the wardrobe boxes will light up when it is displaying a gift you bought for your Diva Starz(TM) friend. Select these articles to help your Diva Starz(TM) friend look extra glamorous.
When you're ready to end the challenge, open the StarPak tool and click again on the "Challenge Results" button. Your Diva Starz(TM) friend will tell you how much she likes the way you've dressed her and award you with tokens.
To receive another challenge, click 'Yes' again when the StarPak asks if you want to take the Diva Challenge. Or if you'd like to try your luck dressing another Diva Starz(TM) friend, use the Diva2Diva Tool to select one of the Diva Starz(TM) friends. Just remember to say 'Yes" when the StarPak asks you if you want to take a challenge for your new Diva Starz(TM) friend.
THE STYLE SPOT
The Diva Starz(TM) are so lucky to have the most unbelievable salon in their mall, capable of creating practically any hairstyle you've ever imagined. Their only problems are figuring out which hairstyle to wear, and when to wear it. That's how you can help!
When you enter the Style Spot, you'll see your Diva Starz(TM) friend standing next to a magazine full of style possibilities. Your Diva Starz(TM) friend is counting on you to help find the perfect cut, color and accessories to make her hair look totally great. Click on the magazine to open it, and let's get started!
ò Using the DivaToolz
Once you've opened the style magazine, you'll see four tabs on the right side. These tools are the Style Blower, Color Bottle , Accessory Wand and the Save button. Click on the Style Blower, the Color Bottle or the Accessory Wand to get started.
ò Selecting a Style with the StyleBlower
Click on the first tab, the "Style Blower," to see tons of incredible hairstyles. Use the left and right arrows at the bottom of the magazine to flip through more pages of styles. When you find a hairstyle you like, click on the hairstyle and then click on your Diva Starz(TM) own head. Whoosh! A magical cyclone transforms her style instantly! You can experiment with other hairstyles in the same way, just click on the new style and click on your Diva Starz(TM) head.
ò Using the ColorBottle
Click on the second "Color Bottle," tab to see a color wheel of five shades. Click the color you want to use, then click your Diva Starz(TM) head and voila! The new color is in place.
ò Adding Accessories with the Wand
No hairstyle is complete without a trendy barrette. Click on the third tab, "Accessory Wand," to see two pages full of butterflies, stars, hearts and more. You can apply barrettes anywhere in your Diva Starz(TM) hair by clicking on the barrette and clicking exactly where you think she should wear it. So cute! Whenever you change hairstyle - your accessories will disappear, so you can start all over again!
ò Save
If you want to save your Diva Starz(TM) hairstyle for later, click the "Save" tab shown above. You'll be asked if you want to save this style or retrieve a saved style. Click "Save." Next, you'll be asked to name this hairstyle. Once you've named it, you can return to styling your Diva Starz(TM) by clicking "Okay."
ò Getting Saved Hairstyles
To get a saved style, click the "Save" button. Then click "Get." Select the name of the hairstyle from the list and click "Show" to give your Diva Starz(TM) this new look. To remove a saved hairstyle from the list, click on its name and then click "Delete." Deleting old saved hairstyles will make room for new styles you want to save.
ò Starting Over
If you want to return your Diva Starz(TM) to her original hairstyle and color, simply click the "Start Over" tab at the top of the magazine.
Playing the Style Spot in Freestyle Mode
To receive another challenge, click "Yes" again when the StarPak asks you if you want another challenge. Or if you'd like to create a new style for one of the other Diva Starz(, select another character from the Diva2Diva Tool and remember to answer "Yes" when your new Diva Starz( friend asks you if you want to take a challenge.
THE MUSIC SPOT
One thing Diva Starz(TM) love more than anything else is good music. How fortunate they are to be able to mix their own tunes in the Music Spot! With a little help from you as the master DJ, your Diva Starz(TM) friend will soon be grooving to the perfect beat - no matter what kind of beat she prefers.
When you enter the Music Spot, you'll see your Diva Starz(TM) friend standing next to the Flower Music Mixer. The Mixer will allow you to mix up tons of new sounds just the way you, and your Diva Starz(TM) friend, like them. Read on to learn how!
ò Selecting a Music Style
In the center of the Flower Music Mixer, you can choose one of four music styles: Rock, Rap, Smooth or Dance. Just click on the right and left arrows to page through the styles until you find the one you like.
ò Creating a Mix
The Flower Music Mixer mixes tunes by separating out the instruments, beats, melodies and sound effects and giving you the power to control each one individually. Each petal features a different part of the mix, which you can adjust until it's just right.
ò Finding the Right Melody
The wavy petal at the top controls melody. Click the arrows on this petal to hear all your options. There are different melodies for each music style.
ò Selecting Sound Effects
Use the spiral petal to change sound effects. Click the arrows on this petal to hear all your options for the music style you've chosen. When you get the rest of the mix just right, you can play these sound effects live by clicking your mouse on the petal to the beat.
ò Choosing a Lead Instrument
With the loopy petal on the bottom, left-hand side, you can change the lead instrument in your mix. Listen for different instruments, depending on the music style.
ò Picking a Beat
The bubble petal controls the beat. Check out all the different beats available for each music style by clicking on the right and left arrows.
ò Controlling the Volume of Each Petal
Maybe your Diva Starz(TM)friend likes a really loud beat, while the melody, instruments and sound effects are quiet. No problem! Just click and hold on the "Beats" petal and drag it out as far as it can go. This will increase the volume of just the beats. You can drag different petals to different levels to adjust the volume for each part of the tune. Experiment until you've created the ultimate mix.
ò Pause
The pause button stops the music until you click "Play."
ò Save
If you want to save your mix, just click "Save." You'll be asked if you want to save a mix or get a previous mix. Click "Save." Next, you'll be asked to give your mix a name. Name it and then return to the Flower Music Mixer by clicking "Okay."
ò Getting Saved Mixes
To get a saved mix, click the "Save" button. Then click "Get." Select the mix you previously saved and then click "Okay" to hear it again. To remove a saved mix from the list, click on its name and then click "Delete." Deleting old saved mixes will make room to save the new mixes you create.
Playing the Music Spot in Diva Challenge Mode
If you've chosen to take the Diva Challenge, your Music Spot goal will be to create the perfect mix to match your Diva Starz(TM) mood and musical tastes. Follow these steps to meet the challenge and earn the most game tokens:
Step 1: Receive Your Challenge
Click "Yes" when the StarPak opens and asks you if you want to take the Diva Challenge and find out what kind of music your Diva Starz(TM) friend wants to hear. When you've accepted the challenge the StarPak will close on its own.
Step 2: Create a Mix
Next, adjust the music style, melody, sound effects, instruments and beats to create a mix for your Diva Starz(TM) friend.
Step 3: See what the Diva Starz(TM) think
When you think you've arrived at a tune your Diva Starz(TM) friend is going to love, click on the Star Communicator located on the Diva2Diva Tool to hear the other Diva Starz(TM) rate your mix. Follow their suggestions to improve your success. If you hear the phone ring as you're creating a mix, it means you found the totally perfect answer and will be rewarded with the maximum number of tokens. You rock!
Step 4: Find out if your Diva Starz(TM) friend likes it
When you're ready to end the challenge, open the StarPak tool and click again on the "Challenge Results" button. Your Diva Starz(TM) friend will tell you how much she likes the mix you've created and award you with tokens.
To receive another challenge, click "Yes" when the StarPak offers you a new challenge. Or if you'd like to mix a song for a different Diva Starz(TM) friend, select one of the other characters using the Diva2Diva Tool. Just remember to click "Yes" again when the StarPak offers you a new challenge.
The Diva Mall Arcade
Use the tokens you earn in the Fashion Spot, Style Spot and Music Spot to play three more cool games in the mall's Arcade. Score big in the Arcade to win gift Diva Credits that you can use to purchase gifts for the Diva Starz(TM).
Navigating to the Arcade
When your Diva Starz(TM) friend has earned tokens you will be able to access the the Arcade Spot by clicking on the Arcade icon at the top right hand corner of the screen. Or, you can go directly to the Arcade Spot from the Tokens and Credits option in the StarPak.
ò Choosing a Game and Inserting Tokens
Click on the game you'd like to play (you'll need to have earned at least one token in one of the other spots to play) - Diva Rollerz, Power Purse or Diva Mark. Next click on a token and drag it over to the game slot. Remember, if you choose Alexa(TM)'s token, you'll earn Diva Credits to buy gifts for Alexa(TM).
DIVA ROLLERZ
Lace up your skates and get ready to roll! Your Diva Starz(TM) friend is speeding through the park on her way to the mall. Watch out for obstacles like trees, pay phones, logs and puddles in her path. Skate through special items to win a special bonus.
ò What's the Goal?
Improve your Diva Starz(TM) mood to maximum happiness by successfully jumping over enough obstacles to fill up the green mood bar in the bottom, left-hand corner of the screen. If it turns red, she's one unhappy Diva Starz(TM) friend. Better improve your skating or the game will be over! Special bonus items earn extra points. Simply, skate over these to collect them for a surprise bonus at the end of the game.
ò How Do I Play?
You'll automatically be moving forward when the game starts. Use your keyboard's arrow keys to skate forward, back, left and right. Press the spacebar to jump.
POWER PURSE
Your Diva Starz(TM) friend is (where else?) at the mall, where it's literally raining cool stuff. Good thing she's got a big shopping bag! Unfortunately there's a trickster who is dropping water balloons. She'd better catch only the good stuff, or she'll be all wet!
ò What's the Goal?
Fill up your Diva Starz(TM) shopping bag with the good stuff before time runs out. When the bag is full, you win. But watch out! Those water balloons will destroy her bag and can cost you the game. Avoid them at all costs. Earn bonus Diva Credits by catching your Diva Starz( super-favorite item.

ò How Do I Play?
As the prizes start to fall, use your mouse to move your Diva Starz(TM) bag left and right and catch the falling good stuff. Use your mouse to move the purse underneath the good things you want to catch.
Get out of the way when those water balloons drop!
DIVA MARK
You're in head-to-head battle with a Diva Starz(TM) opponent. The game? A new Diva-hip version of that standard, Tic Tac Toe. Win at least three games out of five and you'll win Diva Credits. Win all five games in a row and you'll win a big bonus!
ò What's the Goal?
Like Tic Tac Toe, your goal is to place three marks in a row, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. At the same time, you must prevent your opponent from placing three of her own marks in a row. The first player to get three in a row wins the game.
ò How Do I Play?
Click to choose a game piece. If it's your turn to go first, click on your game piece and drag it to an empty position on the board. Your Diva Starz(TM) opponent will automatically follow with her move. Continue until somebody wins or the game board is full.
THE SECRETS AND SURPRISES SPOT
Once you've won Diva Credits in the arcade, it's time to do some shopping for your Diva Starz(TM) friends. The Secrets and Surprises Spot is the place to spend those hard-earned Diva Credits on fabulous new clothing, hairstyles and music. These items will be added to your Diva Starz(TM) friend's collections. You can play with them the next time you are with her in the Fashion Spot, Style Spot and Music Spot.
Navigating to the Secrets and Surprises Spot
You can reach the Secrets and Surprises Spot from the arcade main screen. Just click on the gift icon in the top, right-hand corner.
Buying for a Diva Starz(TM) Friend
You can use the Diva Credits to purchase gifts for each particular Diva Starz(TM) friend. So, for example, if you won 25 Diva Credits using Summer(TM)'s tokens, the gifts you buy with those Diva Credits will be given to Summer(TM).
The main gift chooser screen features three beautifully wrapped boxes for you to choose from. Look at the wrapping paper for clues about what's inside each box. Decide which Diva Starz(TM) friend you're shopping for and then drag one of her Diva Credits to the gift box you think she'd like best. The box will open to reveal tons of cool gifts inside.
Selecting a Gift
Each gift inside the box has a price, listed at the bottom of the screen. You can buy as many of these gifts, or gifts from another box, as you have Diva Credits to spend. Click the arrows to view all the gifts. When you find one you'd like to purchase, click and drag it to your gift bag. The Diva Credits needed to purchase this item will automatically be deducted from your Diva Starz(TM) friend's collection. Remember to purchase the gifts you think your Diva Starz(TM)friend will really love, so she'll have just the right items to fit her personality, mood and lifestyle.
Using Your Newly Purchased Gifts
The gifts you purchase for a Diva Starz(TM) friend will show up the next time you play with her. For example, if you purchase a new hairstyle for Tia(TM), it will be available in the Style Spot the next time you and Tia(TM) play there. Listen carefully to your Diva Starz(TM) next challenge and if you think the new gift will be successful, try it out and see what happens!
Super Secret Gifts
These gifts are the most expensive and have a special magical power to release a Super Secret about each character when you use them in the Fashion Spot, Style Spot or Music Spot. After you have purchased one of these Super Secret gifts, listen carefully when you use it back in a game Spot. Your Diva Starz(TM) friend may be so happy with the gift you've given her, she'll tell you something Super Secret about herself!

SPECIFICALLY, KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE MAKES NO WARRANTIES THAT THE PERFORMANCE OR FUNCTIONALITY OF THE PROGRAM WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY DATES PRIOR TO, DURING OR AFTER THE YEAR 2000, OR THAT THE PROGRAM WILL BE CAPABLE OF CORRECTLY PROCESSING, PROVIDING, AND/OR RECEIVING DATE INFORMATION WITHIN AND BETWEEN CENTURIES, INCLUDING THE PROPER EXCHANGE OF DATE INFORMATION BETWEEN PRODUCTS OR APPLICATIONS. ANY WARRANTY AGAINST INFRINGEMENT THAT MAY BE PROVIDED IN SECTION 2-312(3) OF THE UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE AND/OR IN ANY OTHER COMPARABLE STATE STATUTE IS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. The entire risk arising out of use or performance of the Program remains with the You; however, KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE warrants the Master Disk(s), on which the Program is furnished, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, under normal use, for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of delivery. KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE's sole liability in the event of a defective disk shall be to give You a replacement disk. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply.
Limitation of Liability. NEITHER KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE, ITS PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES OR LICENSORS SHALL BE LIABLE IN ANY WAY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF GOODWILL, WORK STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES.
